5. Competitors
- prefer candidates from big box retailers (Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Home Depot, Office Max)
- will consider candidates from smaller retailers like Gap, Walgreens, Victoria Secret, etc - but preferably store manager.
- BBB will not consider candidates from Linens & Things.
- Generally the smaller the store the bigger their title--- store manager.
- If you find a candidate from Macy's must be group manager or operations manager or above level.
- Generally the bigger the store - the smaller the job title- positions right below a store manager or even store mgrs at big stores are highly desireable.
- If you do call a competitor or a referral, it is recommended you use Asking for Help Script.
6. Process
- Find and screen candidates as you normally do. For the courageous or advanced recruiter consider looking at methods found at Headhunting 101.
- Bed Bath & Beyond will not consider candidates that have failed an interview with Bed Bath & Beyond since 2006.
- Bed Bath & Beyond has a preference for candidates that are currently working and live within one hour from the store.
- Bed Bath & Beyond will not consider candidates that have applied to them and are in their database since 2006
- email to me the candidate's resume and include the standard write up.
- include on there a phone number where I can call candidate for a phone screen.
7. Recommended next step
- review www.BedBathandBeyond.com
- visit a store if you want to be hardcore
- surf the net to research Bed Bath & Beyond
- Learning curve, I'm not going to recommend you take on filling these positions, unless you plan on being exceptional in doing it. If you are willing to put in the time and lot's of effort to learn BBB, learn the retail world, learn the best way to talk to and find these candidates, then the financial reward will be there. To get there it will take effort. I do not recommend you even start this if you know that you are going to quit or be average. I'd rather you quit at the beginning - before you put time and effort into it.
